10 questions we need answered by The White Lotus season 3 finale
Like WHAT is going on with those brothers?
Secrets. Lies. Deception – and a dead body.
It’s The White Lotus season 3, and we’re riding the wave that’s about to crash into a full-blown tsunami ahead of the finale in just two episodes.
While the build-up has been slower than what I imagine would be five minutes hanging out with Saxon, tensions are rising for our privileged guests – from a trio of frenemies about to explode like fireworks at a Full Moon Party to questions of incest (!), addiction, faith, and maybe even murder.
Since we saw a floating body in the opening scenes of The White Lotus resort in Thailand, our heads have been spinning faster than the blades in Saxon’s smoothie blender, trying to guess where this show is heading. From creator Mike White’s religious and spiritual motifs to returning characters (looking at you, Gary/Greg, you sneaky fox! #JusticeForTanya), and hidden meanings lurking in every cocktail by the pool, here’s everything we still need to know about The White Lotus Thailand.
*Note: Spoilers ahead for episodes aired of The White Lotus season 3. You’ve been warned!
10 things we need to know about The White Lotus season 3 – Thailand
1. WHAT is going on with the siblings?
From the very first episode, the Ratliff siblings have made us question everything we know about family dynamics. Saxon casually discusses his sister’s virginity like it's a weather update (gross), Lochlan gave us some very uncomfortable glances at his brother Saxon’s naked body, and then of course, there was that kiss.
What is going on? Is Lochlan actually attracted to his brother, or is it some weird power play? Are they even really siblings, or are they just weirdly bonded in some deep, inexplicable way? Has something happened to one or more of the siblings, and are the parents involved? We don’t know – but we need to. And fast.
2. Will Laurie find out about Jaclyn?
The trio of 40-something women and their passive-aggressive friendship is one rarely shown on television, yet reflects a dynamic that more of us than not have unfortunately experienced.
Last week, Jaclyn – the married TV star – slept with staffer Valentin, the very man she had been practically shoving into her single friend Laurie’s arms. Will Laurie find out? Will Trump supporter Kate finally snap and say something? Will the whole friendship implode before their botox drops? Honestly, we’re just waiting for the drama to explode – bubble tea ready.
3. Is Gaitok going to get his gun back and get the girl?
Poor Gaitok – our friendly security guard just can’t catch a break. First, his crush Mook rejects him, then he gets robbed, and now Timothy Ratliff is swinging around the gun that he was meant to protect. This man’s having a worse time than Chelsea at the snake show. But the real question is: will there be a showdown over that gun? Is the object of his affection, Mook, actually part of a crime syndicate taking over The White Lotus? How will he handle these threats to his employment and manhood?
4. Is Gary/Greg going to try and kill Belinda?
Ugh, is there a character more hateable than Gary/Greg on TV right now? Not only did he plan to have our beloved Tanya McQuoid murdered (“These gays! They’re trying to murder me!”), but now that Belinda, a staff member from The White Lotus Hawaii who recognises him, is on his tail, there’s no telling what he’ll do to protect himself and the millions he unfairly inherited.
5. Who is Rick’s dad?
Rick's paternity is one of the most burning questions of the season. Could the man he is set out to kill, Jim Hollinger, actually be his father? Was Frank’s batshit monologue about becoming someone else a clue that Rick’s dad is now a completely different person – like, say, a woman in Thailand? Frankly, we have no idea, but we’re hoping the twist is spicier than a Thai Red Curry.
6. Does something bad happen to Chelsea?
Justice for the beautiful Chelsea, my beloved best friend from Sex Education! While it’s hard to see how she finds anything redeemable in her toxic af relationship with old Rick, things aren’t looking good for old Chels. A snake bite, being held at gunpoint… she says bad things happen in threes. Is Chelsea awaiting an inevitable fate?
7. Will Gary/Greg face retribution for what happened to Tanya?
If Gary/Greg doesn’t end up killing Belinda, another option could be that she turns him in, and he finally faces justice for what happened to Tanya. Would he be extradited? Will hotel manager Fabian finally see the light? Or is he involved? And is Chloe, Gary/Greg’s girlfriend, in on the whole thing? We must know!
8. What is going on with Victoria Ratliff?
While we know Timothy Ratliff is facing serious monetary and legal problems, what exactly is going on with his wife, matriarch Victoria Ratliff? What made her addicted to lorazepam? Why was she so rude and strange around Jaclyn? Did something sinister happen in her family? Where is it all going?
9. Is Piper really going to stay in Taiwan?
Okay, I know, it’s Thailand, but couldn’t resist. Is Piper, the Ratliff daughter, really going to stay for a year meditating in Thailand? And if so, why? What is she running from? Is there something she can’t go back to?
10. Who dies?
The big question that looms over the entire show. Will it be Gary/Greg trying to kill Belinda? Will Timothy’s gun go off in the wrong direction? Will a monkey somehow end up with a weapon? A forbidden fruit smoothie gone wrong?
Whoever it is and however it’s done, The White Lotus season 3 has been one hell of a wave – here’s riding it to the very end.
